Someone on here said my video reviews were just unboxing with a score at the end

They posted a comment saying 'you just show the box and list specs, I want to see if it breaks after a month.' That was about six months ago. I started actually using the gadgets for three weeks before filming anything. My review of the Klyde smart plug last month showed it stopped connecting after 18 days. Anyone else get a piece of feedback that made you totally switch up your process?

That "soda can for scale" trick is so simple but it fixes the main problem with most product shots. You could take it further by showing the bag stuffed full, not just empty next to an object. A picture of it crammed under a plane seat or in an overhead bin would tell me way more.

But is a soda can really the best way to judge size? Seems like a weird thing to fixate on.

Read a blog post where a photographer got told their pictures were just pretty, not useful. The person said "I can't tell if this camera bag will fit under an airplane seat." Now that photographer always puts a soda can or a common book in the frame for scale. It changed how they shoot every product photo.
