Vent: That cheap fitness tracker from the online ad was a total waste of $40
I saw a video ad for a 'smart band' that tracked sleep, steps, and heart rate. It arrived last Tuesday and looked okay at first. The step count was way off, adding over 2,000 steps while I was just driving. The heart rate monitor gave random numbers, and the app stopped connecting after two days. Has anyone found a decent budget tracker that actually works?

Been there, my old tracker thought folding laundry was a marathon. Those cheap ones are basically random number generators with a wristband.

My friend Jen had one that thought she was climbing stairs when she was just brushing her teeth. Like it gave her ten flights for her morning routine. She got really into the gamification part and would walk around her apartment just to close her rings. Then she lost it for a week and realized she felt exactly the same without it.

Lol "random number generators with a wristband" is the perfect way to put it, @samrodriguez. My old one would give me like 500 steps for just walking to the fridge. It made me look way more active than I actually was. I almost believed I was in great shape until I tried to run for the bus. Those things are basically just fancy mood rings that guess your activity. You're better off just guessing yourself, it's probably more accurate.

Yeah the "fancy mood rings" thing is so true. I switched to just using my phone's step counter and it feels way less random, like it actually matches when I'm moving. I mean it's not perfect but at least I don't get credit for typing.
