A piece I made three years ago just came back for repair
A customer brought in a small vase I blew in my old studio in Tacoma. It had a hairline crack near the base. I made it back in 2021, and seeing it again was a real surprise. It made me think about how my annealing cycle was less consistent back then. I used to run my kiln a bit cooler to save on propane. Has anyone else had an old piece return with issues that pointed to a past technique you've since improved?

Man, that's like getting a time capsule of your old mistakes.

Totally get that. I used to find old code from my first projects and cringe. The trick was to just pick one small thing to fix. Like, I had this login page with broken links everywhere. I fixed just the password reset flow first. Seeing that one part work gave me the push to tackle the rest bit by bit. It stops feeling like a mountain of old junk.

Yeah, and the worst part is past you left all the cleanup for present you.
