Question about using a 1.5 inch vs a 2 inch blow hose for a recent project
I was making a 14 inch vase last month and the 2 inch hose gave me way more control over the bubble size without having to blow so hard... anyone have a preferred size for larger pieces?

Wait, isn't a 1.5 inch hose pretty standard for most glassblowing? The bigger 2 inch hose moves a lot more air, so it makes sense you'd get more control on a large piece like that. I'd stick with the 2 inch for anything over 12 inches.

The 2 inch hose is better for big pieces because it moves more air with less effort. You get finer control over bubble size without blowing your lungs out. Stick with the larger hose for anything over a foot tall.

But what about the extra air pressure from a smaller hose?

You mentioned the 2 inch hose moves more air with less effort. But doesn't that also mean you lose some fine pressure control on smaller details? Like, if I'm working on a thin stem or a small lip wrap, I feel like that huge volume of air would be too blunt. How do you handle those quick, tiny adjustments without overblowing the section?
