Got a call for a big storefront job in Springfield last month

They wanted a single pane of 3/4 inch thick glass, 10 feet wide by 8 feet tall. I told them the lead time would be crazy and the cost for the crane would be high. The manager just said, 'I don't care about the price, I need it done in two weeks.' We got it in and set with a 40 ton crane, no issues. It was one of those jobs where the client just wants it done right, no questions asked. Has anyone else had a client who didn't even blink at the quote?

Actually, that's laminated glass, not a single pane. Code won't allow a monolithic piece that big in a storefront. Still, nice when budget isn't the main issue.

Yeah the code part is spot on. I mean, fiona_carr26's point about client pressure fits here too, because choosing laminated over cheaper options is a call someone up the chain makes. It's one of those specs that just quietly adds up.

Heard a contractor on a podcast say those "just get it done" clients are usually under crazy pressure from their own bosses. Makes sense why they wouldn't even look at the price.
