PSA: I swore off grid patterns for storefronts until a client insisted
Had a job where the customer wanted a full grid design on a big window wall. Always thought it looked too busy and was extra work. But after installing it, the light spread evenly and hid minor flaws in the glass. Now I get why some folks prefer it. Anyone have tips for cutting all those pieces fast?

Use a story stick to mark all your cuts at once. It sped up my last grid project by keeping everything uniform. Just remember to double-check your first measurement.

Yeah I always thought that was overkill till I tried it on my deck rebuild. @the_lily is totally right, marking each board one by one was killing my time. The stick got all the post sleeves cut perfect in one go. Changed my whole workflow now.

Took three projects to try that story stick trick. Now I'm kicking myself for all the solo board marking.

Isn't a story stick just another thing to set up? I tried it once and spent more time making the stick than I saved on cuts. @the_lily, your method might work for grids, but I'll stick to measuring each board for most jobs.
