TIL a trick for old sash windows at a house in Charleston
The owner had a bunch of stuck panes and I was about to cut them out. An old timer on the crew just ran a thin bead of dish soap along the edge of the glass and the putty gave way clean. Anyone know other tricks for getting old glass out without breaking it?
That trick works great on the putty, but the soap can make the wood swell if it gets in the groove. A thin putty knife and a heat gun on low is safer for the frame.
