Warning: a homeowner in Denver asked me to install a 4x8 sheet of 3/8 inch tempered glass as a 'room divider' without any framing.

He got mad when I said it would be a giant, deadly guillotine and refused the job, asking if I could 'just silicone it to the ceiling'.

Honestly, did they not see that video of a big glass panel falling over in a store? That thing just shattered and sent glass everywhere. Some people really don't get how dangerous heavy glass can be without the right support.

Saw a news story last year about a huge shower door that just fell off its track and exploded. The guy needed like thirty stitches in his leg. It's crazy how much force tempered glass has when it breaks. Makes you side-eye every wobbly shelf or cheap furniture with big glass parts now.

Proper installation makes those things pretty safe though.
