My old apartment key still opened the new tenant's door 6 months after I moved
I went back to grab a package they held for me and my key worked, even though the super said they changed the locks. Has anyone else had a key that shouldn't work anymore?

Yeah that's super sketchy, makes you wonder if they actually changed the locks at all. I'd be worried about who else might still have a working key. You should definitely tell the super again and get them to actually fix it this time.

Wait, they used the same old key?

Wait, did they just re-key the same lock cylinder? That's like putting a new coat of paint on a broken fence! I totally agree with @gracethomas, that's a huge security risk. I'd go back and jiggle the key in front of the super until they get a whole new lock.

Friend of mine had this exact thing happen last year. Landlord swore up and down they changed the locks after a break-in. She kept getting her mail stolen and packages missing. Finally got a locksmith to check and yep, old cylinder with new keys. The landlord just filed down the old key a bit and handed it back. She moved out two weeks later and took the super to small claims over the stolen packages. Never trust a fast fix on locks. Get a deadbolt that uses a code or something you can change yourself.
