Rant: My car's odometer jumped 200 miles overnight

I drove from my house in Dayton to a friend's place in Columbus last Friday, a trip I've done a hundred times. It's exactly 71 miles each way, so I should have added 142 miles total. When I got home, my odometer read 89,412. The next morning, I went to the store and it said 89,612. I didn't drive 200 miles to the grocery store. I checked my dashcam GPS log and it confirmed my trip was normal. Has anyone else had a digital odometer just... add a huge chunk of mileage for no reason?

My uncle’s Ford truck had its digital odometer glitch and add about 150 phantom miles once.

Odometer fraud is actually super illegal though.

Yeah, that's the kind of glitch that makes you wonder... my mate's car did something similar, just kept counting up while it was parked. He was ready to sell it as a museum piece with the mileage it showed.
