I used to spend hours looking at design books, now I just scroll Pinterest for 20 minutes. Is that a step back?

Oh man, that makes me think of how my taste in music changed. I used to only listen to fast, loud stuff for energy, @max_cooper21, but now I find a simple, quiet melody can get my brain going just as well. It's still inspiration, just comes from a calmer place.

Totally get that. My buddy was a hardcore metal drummer, always needed that chaos to create. Then he hurt his wrist and had to sit still for months. He told me he started hearing music in rain on the roof and distant traffic, stuff he never noticed before. Now his new stuff is this slow, tense build-up, and it's somehow heavier. It's exactly what you're saying, @max_cooper21, the inspiration didn't leave, it just completely changed the channel.

Three months of silence before he found that new groove? That's brutal. Did he ever get scared the inspiration was just gone for good, or did he always know it was hiding somewhere? Cause I've had dry spells that felt pretty final.
