Just realized my old boss was right about keeping a physical mood board

She told me to pin up color swatches and magazine clippings on my wall, not just save things online. I finally tried it for a branding project last week and it made picking a palette so much faster. How do you all keep your visual ideas organized?

My old art teacher made us keep a physical sketchbook for this exact reason. I had folders full of digital photos but never looked at them. Last month I taped up fabric samples and paint chips for my living room redo on a big piece of foam board. Seeing everything side by side without clicking between tabs made the final choice obvious in like ten minutes. I still use Pinterest for gathering ideas, but the real work happens when I print things out and move them around with my hands. It just sticks in your brain better.

My kitchen wall is just sticky notes and paint chips now.

Watched my friend struggle with her wedding mood board online for weeks. She saw @paige166's foam board comment and finally printed everything. Spreading photos and lace samples on her dining table, she fixed the whole color scheme in one afternoon just by moving a napkin under different flowers.

Remember those old library book carts? I had to sort a huge pile of vintage postcards for a collage last year and I dumped them all on my living room floor. Spent an hour just walking around them and grouping by color and vibe. My laptop was right there with a folder of the same images scanned, but the physical mess made way more sense. Something about the chaos of real stuff sparks way better ideas for me than a neat grid on a screen.
