Pro tip: Freeing up a stuck firing pin on a pump-action shotgun

I mean, I had this happen with an old Remington 870. A soak in solvent and a few light taps with a nylon punch did the trick.

I used a metal punch on my Winchester 1300 for years when this happened. Always figured more force was the answer. Then I tried the solvent soak method from a forum post last year. Now I know a gentle approach works better and won't mess up the finish.

My dad's old truck taught me the same about overcomplicating repairs.

Yeah, aaron's right about the gentle approach! A tiny drop of oil after the solvent soak keeps it from sticking again later.

Honestly benn32, that truck wisdom works for stuck firing pins too, just a little solvent and patience.
