I thought the 'cold water rinse' thing was just a myth
For years I thought telling clients to rinse with cold water at the end of a wash was just an old wives' tale. Then a regular came in last month and her color was fading way too fast, so I finally told her to try it. She came back yesterday and said her red tones have lasted almost 3 weeks longer than usual. Has anyone else actually seen a real difference with this, or did she just get lucky?

My own purple dye lasts a solid month longer with a cold rinse at the end.

Cold water just makes my hair feel gross and doesn't help at all.

Ever tried it on your own hair?

Held back a laugh when I read that. There's no way Kelly hasn't tried it on herself if she's asking like that. @shanew59's month longer claim is wild to me, but I guess if you're already committed to cold water it could be worth a shot. Honestly, I'd rather just reapply dye than freeze my scalp every shower. Solid month though? That's impressive.
