Saw a really clever way to organize color bowls at a salon in Portland
I was visiting a friend's shop in Portland last week and noticed they mounted a simple wooden shelf above their color station. They had all their mixing bowls lined up with the color numbers written on the rim in permanent marker. My friend said it cut down her mix-up time by a solid minute per client because she wasn't digging through a cabinet. Has anyone else tried a setup like this? I'm thinking of building one for my own station.

Love seeing smart fixes for small annoyances.

I mean, I get what you're saying grant.anthony, but sometimes these "smart fixes" feel like using a power drill to hang a picture frame. Do we really need a custom 3D printed bracket to stop a cabinet door from squeaking? A little WD-40 works fine. It feels like over-engineering a problem that a simple, cheap fix already solves.

I get the "using a power drill to hang a picture frame" thing because that's exactly what I did last weekend. I spent two hours 3D printing a little clip to hold my phone cord in place on my nightstand, but honestly a piece of tape wouldve worked just as good. My wife came in and asked why I was making such a big deal out of something that took her 10 seconds to fix. It's like we get so focused on making a cool gadget that we forget the simple solution was right there the whole time. Maybe sometimes the smart fix is just not overthinking it.

A shelf for bowls seems fine, but calling it a "clever fix" is a bit much. It's just putting things where you can see them. Most salons I've been in have some version of that already.
