I finally found peace on a soggy morning hike everyone else skips
I know most hikers wait for perfect sunny days, but I think they're missing out. Last Thursday, I forced myself out on the local creek trail despite the drizzle. The path was muddy and the trees dripped water, but it was so quiet. I saw a heron standing still in the creek, something I've never spotted on busy weekends. My boots got soaked, but I didn't mind because I had the whole place to myself. That hour alone in the rain cleared my head better than any crowded summit view. It made me realize that sometimes the best hikes are the ones we avoid. I wish more people would give wet weather hiking a chance instead of always chasing the sun.

Tried that once and spent the whole hike wondering if my socks would ever dry.

Waterproof socks saved me on a soggy trail last month.

How many times have I convinced myself a little rain won't be that bad? My last "drizzly walk" turned into a full swamp monster situation before the first mile. Guess I need better waterproofing than just hope.
