My in-laws won't stop nitpicking every house we look at
Letting family have too much say in your home buy is asking for trouble! We almost picked a place we hated just to keep the peace.

Yeah, the "keep the peace" part is so real. I read something once that said if you let other people's opinions decide your house, you're the one who has to live with the regret every day. Gotta just make the choice for yourselves, lol.

That line about living with regret really sticks with me. I've watched people pick houses or decor just to please others, and then quietly resent it for years. It's like you trade a temporary calm for a long term annoyance. Sticking to your own taste might cause some eye rolls now, but you'll thank yourself every time you walk in the door.

Watching my friend get talked into a totally beige living room by his in laws was painful. He complained about that sad couch for three years straight, calling it his "guest approved prison." Finally ripped it all out last month for these loud green chairs he actually likes. Now he just smiles at the ugly things instead of staring at walls he hated.
