Tiling class turned my DIY anxiety into confidence

I used to be sure tiling was only for pros. A friend talked me into a weekend workshop at the local rec center. We learned how to measure, cut, and set tiles step by step. I tried it at home on my bathroom floor, starting with a small section. It went so smooth, I was amazed by the results. Now I feel ready to handle more jobs around the house myself. Getting that hands-on practice really made everything click.

Tiling can be messy at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's rewarding. @allen.anthony, glad you saw it's not just for pros. Just take your time with the measurements.

Using a cheap level from the hardware store showed me how crucial flat surfaces are, not just measurements. (I messed up my first row because the floor wasn't even.) Getting the tiles level stops edges from sticking up, which they call lippage. Spacers help with gaps, but if the base isn't flat, it all goes sideways. Always dry fit your tiles before adding any adhesive, just to be safe.

Always figured it was pros only territory but guess I was wrong.

My first bathroom tile job looked like a roller coaster for a week.
