I defended my rest day habit during a work Zoom call and it got awkward

During an online team meeting, someone asked how I keep in shape without going to the gym. I mentioned I do home workouts three days a week and take rest days, which I think are key. A coworker immediately said skipping days means you're not serious, but I explained how muscles need time to rebuild. The silence after was pretty funny, lmao.

Yeah, rest days are when the real growth happens, not just time off. Your body needs that break to repair the tiny tears from working out, otherwise you're just breaking down muscle without building it back up. I've seen people push too hard and end up with injuries that set them back weeks. It's like trying to drive a car without ever changing the oil, you'll wreck the engine.

Holy crap, injuries setting you back weeks? That's insane. I saw a dude at my gym who never took breaks, always going hard every single day. Then he popped his knee during a squat and was literally benched for three months. All his gains just vanished, and he had to rebuild from scratch. That's not just a setback, it's a total reset. Makes you realize how fragile progress can be without proper rest.

Tell that to the dude lifting every day.

That "tell that to the dude" line is exactly what my buddy used to say. He was obsessed with not missing a day, until he tore his rotator cuff benching. He was out for months and lost so much strength it was depressing. It really showed me that no days off can mean no gains for a long time.
