Giving my workout plan to a buddy helped us both stay on track. We would text updates, which kept the routine going. Having someone else involved makes it easier to not skip days.

My friend Dave and I shared workout plans for a while. We texted updates every day, but it started feeling like a chore. Sometimes I just wanted to rest without explaining myself. It put pressure on us to match each other's progress, which wasn't always realistic. After a few weeks, we dropped it and I actually enjoyed my workouts more. Maybe it's not as serious as people make it out to be.

Could you focus check-ins on helping each other instead of just counting workouts? @anthonys60 pointed out that daily texts feel like a job, but maybe you only check in when you're stuck or proud of something. My pal and I swap quick videos of our form checks on Mondays, which keeps it casual. What do you think about trying a looser system?

Last spring, my coworker Sam borrowed my bodyweight routine. We checked in weekly instead of daily, which kept it light (no pressure to explain off days, you know?). That middle ground stopped the chore feeling anthonys60 mentioned, but still gave the accountability markwhite talked about. It's all about finding the right check-in pace for your friendship.
