My local thrift store had a stack of SNES cartridges, no boxes.

Which ones are worth cleaning up and testing first?

But why start with the RPGs if they're crusted over? You could spend hours cleaning a ruined cartridge that never works. Sometimes the common sports games are easier to fix and test quickly.

Did any of them look like they were in really bad shape? I mean, I once found a stack of NES games at a yard sale and they were covered in grime. I just picked the one with the shiniest label to clean first, which was a dumb move. It was some common sports title worth nothing. A buddy said to always look for role playing games first since they hold value better. Maybe that helps, idk.

Look for RPGs even if they're dirty. Found a gem that way.

Yeah, my rule is dirty label equals maybe hidden gem. Grabbed a grimy NES cart once, label was totally faded. Spent an hour cleaning it with rubbing alcohol. Turned out to be Dragon Warrior. Sold it for way more than the clean looking stuff. Sometimes the worst looking ones are the best finds.
