Just realized more people are running in the rain lately, and I get it now
I used to think only hardcore runners went out in bad weather. But this past month, I've seen dozens of folks jogging through showers at the local track. Deciding to try it, I found the cool rain kept me from overheating. Now I join them whenever it drizzles.

Yesterday morning, I counted three people wiping out on the slick trail near my house. Running in the rain just seems risky to me (like, why invite a twisted ankle?). My shoes got soaked through once and never dried right, so now I stick to the gym when it's wet. The cool rain might feel nice, but pavement gets slippery and visibility drops. I guess I'm just not built for that kind of workout.

Hey @xenas16, is it just me or do we all avoid fun when it gets messy?

Grab shoes with deep treads for rain runs, like trail runners even on pavement. Stick to flat, well-drained paths instead of that slick trail. Afterward, stuff wet shoes with newspaper to pull out moisture fast. A baseball cap keeps rain off your glasses or face so you can see. Start with a slow jog to test your footing before picking up speed.

The city park near me closes the wooded trails after heavy rain because runners cause deep ruts that wreck the path. It's not just about slipping. Those deep treads on wet ground tear up the soil and cause erosion problems the park staff has to fix. So now I only run on the paved loop when it's wet, even though it's less fun. It keeps the trails in good shape for everyone when they dry out.
