Charity shops overpricing based on brand names bothers me.
Many folks think it's fair to pay a premium for labels, but I say condition should matter more. Last week, I spotted a stained polo with a designer tag priced higher than its retail version.

But does a stain really add that much brand value to justify the price?

Brand names often hold value for buyers, so pricing them higher makes sense in my experience.

That point about brand value is spot on. When I sold my old Nike shoes, they went for double what generic sneakers would. People just trust the name and are willing to pay extra for it. Same with electronics, my Samsung phone kept its value way better. Pricing higher isn't just greedy, it's what the market expects. Stick to brand pricing if you want quick sales.

My local Goodwill started slapping twenty dollar tags on any shirt with a Ralph Lauren pony, even if the collar was frayed. It totally misses the point. The people who actually rely on those shops need affordable basics, not a pretend department store experience. If they price out their regulars to chase after resellers, they'll just end up with a bunch of overpriced, stained polos nobody buys.
