PSA: My training partner and I are split on form patience before a meet

We're both prepping for the same competition in two months. He insists on adding weight each week to build confidence (which I think risks injury). I want to stay lighter until every rep is perfect, which might mean slower gains. How do you balance time limits with form quality?

Two months out, you need to test real meet weights.

Your partner's method might build confidence but RISKS injury that could sideline you both before the meet. I've seen lifters push too fast and end up with strains that ruin their prep time. Try adding weight only when your form stays SOLID for all reps in a session, even if it's slower.

Tell that to my ego, @lunaf16.

Is your partner trying to get hurt before the meet? Adding weight every week without solid form is a shortcut to a strain or worse. I saw a guy at my gym blow out his knee because he rushed his deadlifts, and he was benching peanuts for months after. Two months is enough time to improve without gambling your health. Your way might feel slow, but walking into the meet healthy beats not walking in at all. Confidence built on shaky form is just pride before the fall.
