AI image makers are sucking the fun out of my design gig
I keep using AI for quick sketches, but all the results look like they came from the same trend page. Some folks praise how fast it is, while others say it washes out fresh styles. Do you think the speed boost is worth the bland output?

That plastic look blairm93 mentioned is everywhere now! I see it in so many AI sketches, and it really kills the unique vibe. The speed boost might save time, but if every design ends up with the same glitchy hands and sunset colors, what's the point? Do you think the problem is that these AI tools are trained on the same popular images, so they can't help but repeat styles? It feels like we're trading creativity for convenience, and that's a bad deal for art. How can we push AI to make truly original stuff instead of just remixing trends?

Actually the hand thing is weird because it's not always the same mistakes, it's more like the AI has a few bad habits it cycles through. Some gens get extra fingers, others merge knuckles, some just blur the whole area. The training data definitely has a bias toward certain popular aesthetics, which is why everything feels like a remix. To get something original, you gotta push it with super specific prompts and maybe even train a small model on your own weird reference images. Otherwise yeah, we're just making the same shiny thing over and over.

Wait, you're still getting different results? Every AI sketch I've seen has that same plastic look with weirdly smooth gradients. I spotted three different artists' work last week that all had the same messed up hand anatomy in the exact same way. It's not just bland, it's copying its own mistakes. The speed means nothing if every client ends up with the same glitchy sunset color palette.
