Just realized the AI summary feature killed my reading habit
I used to read full tech reports every morning, but after switching to an AI tool that condenses them to bullet points, I stopped noticing details that mattered. Last Tuesday, I missed a critical API deprecation buried in a 40-page doc because the summary just said 'minor updates'. Has anyone else found themselves relying on these summaries and then missing the small print that actually breaks your project?

...and what really gets me is the summaries actually made me feel smarter for a while. Then @the_viola's story reminded me of when I skimmed a security patch note, told my team it was cosmetic, and we got locked out of our own admin panel for a day. The AI said "minor UI tweaks" but it was actually a full auth overhaul. Now I read the first and last pages of anything important, twice.

'minor updates'... yeah that's exactly how I lost a whole weekend once. My summary told me everything was fine, then I pushed a change that nuked our login flow because the real doc said the old token format was being killed. At this point I'm pretty sure I've traded my attention span for a slightly faster email inbox, real fair trade there.
