My AI assistant started giving me cooking recipes instead of code help

I was in my home office in Seattle trying to debug a Python script, and my AI tool suddenly started suggesting I add paprika to a stew. I had to shut it down and restart the whole system, which wasted about 45 minutes of my work time. Has anyone else had their AI tools completely mix up their purpose like that?

That "suddenly started suggesting I add paprika" thing is wild. I read an article last week about how some of these models can get their wires crossed if the training data gets messy. Makes you wonder what else is getting mixed up in there, right?

My cousin's smart speaker started giving weather reports in Spanish last month. It took a full reset to fix the language setting. These glitches make the whole system feel a bit fragile sometimes.

Yeah @carter.mila, what specific article was that? I'd be curious to see what they think is actually getting mixed up.

The paprika thing made me laugh but also kinda sketches me out honestly. I remember hearing this podcast where a researcher talked about how these systems can sometimes latch onto common word patterns and just go wild with them. Like if you type "stew" enough times in a code context it might start thinking you want to cook something. There was this one story I saw on Reddit where someone's AI started mixing gardening tips into their legal document drafting. It's weird because the models are so good most of the time but then they just completely lose the plot like that.
