Saw a huge jump in image quality when I switched to Flux models last month

I've been using AI image generators for about 6 months now, mostly for making concept art for my D&D campaigns. I was stuck on Stable Diffusion 1.5 for the longest time because it's what I learned on. Then a friend in a discord server showed me some side-by-side comparisons with the new Flux models from Black Forest Labs. The difference in hands alone was insane. SD 1.5 would give me mangled fingers half the time, but Flux got them right on the first try four out of five times. I also noticed way better lighting and less of that weird plastic skin texture. It's been about 3 weeks since I switched and I don't think I can go back. Has anyone else noticed big improvements with the newer models or is it just me being more picky now?

Wait, have you tried generating a pic of like a knight with a sword made of fire yet? Because Flux handles that kind of chaos so much better, I still can't quite believe it. I spent six months on SD 1.5 and thought my mangled hands were just user error, like I wasn't prompting right or something. Then I switched to Flux and my first try gave me a character holding a staff with all five fingers and no extra thumbs, and I almost fell out of my chair. The plastic skin thing you mentioned is real too, Flux actually makes people look like they have pores instead of just a wax museum face. I'm still terrible at getting the exact pose I want half the time, but at least my monsters have the right number of limbs now.

Oh man, I read this thing the other day about how Flux was trained differently on hands and faces specifically because that was a huge complaint with older models... and it shows, right? I remember trying to get a decent hand on Stable Diffusion and getting like eight fingers in a spiral... or no fingers at all. The fire sword thing is a good test too, I tried something similar with a fantasy archer and glowing arrows and Flux actually made the light look like it was bending around the bow instead of just pasted on top. Still feels like cheating when I get a normal looking face on the first try...

@the_sean totally agree, after i switched to Flux my prompts actually worked first try way more often.
