Showerthought: I asked an AI to write a poem about my old dog and it got the color of his collar wrong, which made me realize these tools don't really remember, they just guess.
I typed in 'write a poem about a golden retriever named Buddy with a blue collar' and the thing came back with a verse about a red collar, which was a small detail but it hit me that for all the talk, the AI isn't recalling a fact, it's just putting likely words together based on a huge pile of text it read.

Yeah exactly! It's just doing math on what word usually follows another. So "red collar" probably showed up more in its training than "blue collar" did.

It's not even really guessing though, is it? It's just calculating what word is most probable to come next.

Oh man, that reminds me of my autocorrect suggesting "ducking" for the hundredth time. Guess probability isn't perfect.
