Bought a fancy air fryer basket insert for $25 and it rusted after two uses

I grabbed that silicone-coated mesh basket from the big box store and it left orange flakes all over my chicken wings after just the second batch, has anyone found a brand that actually lasts more than a month?

Hey come on now, I gotta disagree a little bit! I've had that same silicone coated basket for like eight months now and it's still going strong, no rust or peeling at all. Maybe I just got lucky or maybe it's about how you wash it, but I think there's some good coated ones out there if you hand wash and don't use steel wool on em.

@the_holly nailed it, the Cuisinart stainless basket is the only one that didn't leave rust on my stuff too.

I used to be one of those people who swore by the silicone coated stuff, thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. But after two uses with that exact same basket, watching orange specks all over my fries, yeah that changed my mind fast. Nobody talks about how the coating just peels off after one wash and then it's basically a rust magnet. The only one that held up for me was a solid stainless steel basket from a brand called Cuisinart, no coating to flake off. Just stick with something that's one solid piece of metal and you won't be scraping rust off your food.
