My brother swore preheating the air fryer was a waste of time
I always skipped preheating because he said it was just extra steps and didn't make any difference. But I tried it for the first time last night with some frozen chicken wings and they came out way crispier after the full 3 minute preheat. Has anyone else found that preheating actually matters for certain foods?

Honestly, preheating for three minutes is solid advice, but frozen wings might actually need longer than that depending on the brand. Tbh I'd say check the bag instructions because some of them recommend a five minute preheat for the best crisp.

Preheating is basically the difference between the outside cooking at the right temp immediately versus playing catch up, ends up steaming instead of crisping. My brother also thought it was a myth until I made him try chicken wings side by side and he had to eat his words.

Tbh this is one of those things that seems too simple to matter but it really does. Tried it myself with frozen pizza once and the difference was night and day, the preheated one actually had a crispy crust while the other one turned out soggy on the bottom. Ngl I used to rush and skip preheating all the time because I was impatient, but now I just accept that those extra few minutes make or break it. Honestly I think that's why so many people struggle with cooking, they don't realize how much the initial heat level changes everything.
