My frozen hash brown patties turned into crispy little frisbees

I put a box of the store-bought frozen ones in at 400 degrees for 15 minutes, flipping halfway like the bag said. They came out so hard you could hear them clank on the plate. I learned you really need to spray them with oil first, even if the box doesn't tell you to. Has anyone else had to adjust the time or temp for frozen potato things?

Man, that crunch sounds familiar. My buddy tried to make those same patties for a camping trip last fall. He didn't have any oil either, so he just threw them straight on the grate over the fire. We ended up using them as coasters for our beer cans, they were that solid. Makes you wonder why the box leaves out that key step, right?

Saw a food blog once that called those things hockey pucks without a good oil spray. What temp do you use now?

I always skipped the oil too, lesson learned.
