Read a blog post saying air fryers are just small ovens and I got fired up

Some food blogger named Claire wrote that air fryers are basically "just a convection oven in a smaller box" and it really got under my skin. I made chicken wings in my air fryer last night at 380 degrees for 20 minutes and they came out way crispier than any oven I've used in 10 years. Like, have you actually tried both side by side with the same recipe? Am I wrong for thinking that's a totally unfair comparison?

Yeah but that's not totally accurate either, air fryers use a much tighter fan system that moves air way faster and more directly at the food, that's why the outside gets so much crispier in less time. At 380 for 20 minutes in my regular oven those wings would still be kinda floppy.

Ugh, totally feel you on that. I've had the same disappointment with regular ovens and wings, they just never get that same snap.
