Showerthought: My neighbor changed my mind about frozen fries
I was talking to my neighbor Dave yesterday while grilling, and he mentioned he only uses frozen fries in his air fryer now. He said, 'The extra starch on the outside makes them crisp up way better than fresh potatoes.' I tried it tonight with a bag of the store brand crinkle cuts, and he was totally right. Has anyone else found a frozen food that works better than fresh in the air fryer?

Wait isn't that kind of the point though... the starch on frozen fries is what makes them extra crispy compared to fresh ones? I think a lot of people don't realize that's why fast food places use frozen fries too, not just because they're easier. But you're totally right about the air fryer being the secret weapon for frozen stuff.

Totally get that! Frozen onion rings come out way crispier for me too.

Wait, are you baking them or frying them? I always fry mine... that's the only way I can get them really crispy. The oven just makes them kind of soft and chewy for me, even on a rack. Maybe my oven isn't hot enough, but it never works out.
