Skin-on wings need oil for proper crisping in the air fryer, trust me.

Actually, the idea that skin-on wings NEED oil is just wrong. I cook them dry in my air fryer at 400 degrees and they come out PERFECTLY crispy every time. The skin has enough fat to crisp up on its own with the hot air circulation. Adding oil can sometimes make them soggy instead of helping.

Learned this the hard way after my wings got soggy with oil. Now I just dry them off and put them in the air fryer at 400. The skin gets really crispy because the fat cooks out. Don't fill the basket too full so the air can move around. Oil can hold in wetness and keep them from getting crisp. What do you put on yours for flavor?

Been there with the soggy wing struggle, it's the worst. Your method makes total sense since the skin already has plenty of fat. I usually just toss mine in some salt, pepper, and garlic powder after.
