Am I the only one who thinks safety wire pliers are worth the hype after 6 months on night shift?
I picked up a pair of Milbar pliers about 6 months ago when I moved to the graveyard crew at our hangar in Bakersfield. I was using the old twist method before that. Made the switch after a buddy showed me how clean his lockwire looked on an engine mount. Anyway, I thought they were overpriced junk at first. $80 felt steep. But after doing maybe 200 safety wire jobs with them I'm a believer. My wrists don't hurt after a long shift anymore and the twists come out way more even. I still get guys telling me real mechanics do it by hand though. Is it just me or does anyone else think the tool snobs have a point against these things?
