I finally stopped using the wrong torque pattern on cylinder heads after 8 years

Last month a old timer walked over while I was torquing a Lycoming cylinder and just said 'you're going in the wrong sequence, kid.' He showed me the actual factory pattern and my next three compression tests came out perfect with no leaks. Anybody else get called out on something basic they'd been doing backwards for years?

Eight years of wrong torque patterns, that's commitment to being extra sure the bolts were confused.

Man, been there. I finally started marking my torque wrench settings with a paint marker. Right on the knob itself. Red stripe for this job, blue for that one. Made a huge difference, no more guessing.
