Had to choose between engagement bait and actual value for my latest post

I tried the controversial angle with a hot take title and it got 50k views, but the comments were just people arguing. Then I posted a boring breakdown of how the algorithm prioritizes watch time over shares and it barely got 500 views but actually helped people. Which metric do you optimize for when you post?

Wait, 8 comments for 1,200 saves? That's wild. I feel like half the internet is just lurking and hoarding stuff in their bookmarks without ever saying a word.

My cousin runs a small recipe blog and she tracks something called "saves to comment ratio." Last month she had a post that got 1,200 saves but only 8 comments. That post got her more consistent traffic over two weeks than the viral one that peaked at 8k views in a day then died. So maybe stop looking at views or engagement alone and watch what people are actually keeping. The algorithm might reward sparks but a library of saved posts is what builds an audience long term.

Saves to comment ratio" is interesting, but how does she decide what threshold makes a post worth keeping versus just a fleeting bookmark?
