My dumb test video hit 7,000 views overnight and the spike came from one weird place
I posted a 14 second video of my dog trying to eat a fly on my kitchen window last Tuesday. It sat at about 40 views for two days, then jumped to 7,200 by Thursday morning. I checked the analytics and almost all of that came from one single creator reposting it with a dumb caption about "Monday mood" on a page with 900k followers. The wild part is that none of their followers clicked through to my page. My follower count went up by 6. So the platform rewarded the idea of my video but not me, the person who made it. The repost got pushed to way more people than the original ever did, and the algorithm treated them like the source. I get that clipping is just how these apps work now, but it still feels off that one account can eat your reach with a five word caption. Has anyone found a way to get credit or traffic back when a bigger page reposts your clip?
