My local news page went from quiet to pure outrage in under 48 hours

It was all normal posts until a video of a city council meeting got 10k shares, then the algorithm just flooded the feed with angry comments and similar stories. Has anyone else watched their feed get hijacked by a single piece of content like that?

It's scary how fast that can happen.

Yeah, the part about how FAST it happens really sticks with you. I read this article about how these things can go from a small problem to a total disaster in like, minutes. It's not a slow build at all. One second everything seems okay and the next it's completely out of control. That speed is what makes it so dangerous, because there's no time to get ready. It just HITS.

Ever notice how the outrage feels the same no matter what the story is? It's like the algorithm just swaps out the names and places but keeps the same angry energy.

Oh man, this whole thing really hits home for me now. I used to be one of those people who rolled their eyes at the "algorithm is manipulating us" crowd. I thought it was just people being dramatic or blaming tech for their own bad takes. But then a local story about a zoning meeting blew up in my town, and I watched my feed flip from boring updates about road closures to pure fury in a single day. It was like someone flipped a switch and suddenly everyone was screaming about the same thing. It made me realize I was totally wrong about how quickly and easily this stuff can take over. The speed of it is the real scary part, because before you even know what hit you, you're caught up in the anger too.
