My neighbor's kid got 10 million views on a video of a cat knocking over a plant
He showed me his phone, the video was just 12 seconds long and not even that funny. He said he posted it at 4 PM on a Tuesday and it blew up overnight. It made me think the algorithm just picks random things to push hard, not what's actually good. Has anyone else seen a totally normal post go huge for no clear reason?

Remember the algorithm doesn't judge quality like we do. It just looks for signals that make people stop scrolling, like a sudden movement or a relatable mess. That plant falling over probably had perfect timing for a bored audience.

Wait, the plant was staged? That completely changes how I saw that whole video. It felt so real and messy, but now it just seems calculated. What else online is secretly set up like that?

My friend's kid's "surprise" birthday party video last year, the one that went viral for the "genuine" chaos? They reshot the cake smash three times to get the right messy-but-cute look.
