My taco truck review in Portland sat at 40 likes for 6 months, then this happened
Posted a review of the El Torito truck on 82nd back in March and it just sat there. Three weeks ago I added a line about how they sell out by 1pm and suddenly it jumped to 9,000 views in a day. I think the algorithm grabbed the word 'sell out' and pushed it to people looking for lunch spots nearby. Now I'm wondering if timing words like that are what actually trigger the local push. Has anyone tested dropping a time or location detail into an old post to see if it moves?
82nd and Powell is a whole different world than the spots downtown, and I've watched my own reviews there do the opposite of what you're saying. Back in April I wrote up the pupusa place near the Fubonn lot with way more detail than your taco post, hit 200 likes in a week, then dropped off a cliff and never came back. The one that keeps getting steady views months later is a boring two line post I made about a cart that closed down last year, so if timing words were the trigger, that one should be dead. My guess is the push you got came from a bunch of people searching lunch spots that exact week and your post happened to be fresh in the mix, not from the words themselves. Could be worth testing on a second old post before you blame the algorithm for reading your mind.
