My viral TikTok went flat after 2 hours and I still don't know why

Last Wednesday I posted a quick video about why local news clips get boosted by algorithms and it hit 50k views in 90 minutes, then just stopped dead with zero new impressions for the rest of the day. Has anyone else seen their content get pulled from the algorithm mid-roll like that?

@danielr99 hit the nail on the head about the algorithm switch. I think TikTok throttles content after a certain threshold to test if it's legit engagement or just a lucky burst. Once your video passes that test it might get a second wave, but sometimes it just never does.

Jumped on that same train myself last week. Thought I finally cracked the code with a cooking video - shot up to 50k views then dead silence for three days straight. Guess the algorithm just wanted to remind me I’m not special.

Damn, that sucks. Same thing happened to me last month with a skateboarding trick video. Hit 30k in the first hour then just went completely dark. No views, no nothing for the rest of the day. Super frustrating when you think something is finally taking off. I checked my analytics and it showed zero impressions from the For You page after that first burst. Feels like the algorithm just flipped a switch and forgot about it. Really kills your motivation to keep posting when that happens.
