Question about a local news story that blew up on TikTok
Last week, a story about a lost dog in my city, Phoenix, got huge on TikTok. The algorithm seemed to push it hard because of the emotional music and quick cuts. But I saw the same story on our local news site with almost no views. Do you think the platform's focus on fast, emotional content is making real local reporting less visible, or is it just a better way to spread urgent info? What's your take on how this works?

My local station pulled a crash clip after a councilman called them.

Did they also try to hide it from the news?

Man, that reminds me of when someone posted dashcam footage of a pothole taking out a whole bus here and the city actually tried to get it taken down claiming it was 'misleading'.
