Rant: Paid $200 for a viral boost kit and my views tanked
Bought a package from a service that promised to 'seed' my video with real engagement. They said it would trick the algorithm into pushing it. Cost about two hundred bucks. My video got a bunch of fake looking comments in the first hour, then the platform just stopped showing it to anyone. On one side, maybe the algorithm flagged it as spam. On the other, maybe the engagement was just too low quality. Has anyone else had a paid promotion backfire this bad?

Ever try to jump-start a dead car battery with a pack of AA batteries? That's what buying those fake engagement kits feels like. You're hoping for a miracle, but you just end up with a weird smell and a bunch of useless junk. My video got 500 bot comments saying "Nice!" and "Great video!" in broken English, then the views flatlined harder than my last diet. The algorithm isn't stupid, it can spot that fake junk from a mile away.

Remember when I tried to fix my sink with duct tape?

Yeah, that "weird smell and a bunch of useless junk" line is perfect... I read an article where a platform engineer basically said those bot comments act like a dead weight. They don't lead to any real sharing or longer watch time, so the algorithm just stops pushing the video entirely. It's like paying to get your video buried.

Honestly, I dunno, sometimes a little push can nudge the algorithm if the content's actually good.
