That viral TikTok trend about "quiet quitting" was manufactured by an algorithm, not workers

I was scrolling through my feed last March and noticed every other video was the same "I'm not working overtime anymore" script, but then I checked the hashtag data and saw the whole thing was pushed by a handful of bot accounts in a 48 hour window. It made me realize algorithms can pick a single phrase and turn it into a national conversation overnight. Has anyone else tracked how fast a random phrase goes from zero to trending on Twitter vs TikTok?

Used to think quiet quitting was just workers finally pushing back, but yeah, I dug into the data after that and it was crazy how many bot accounts were spamming the same hashtag. Made me realize I can't trust any trend that blows up in a day. How much of that stuff is just manufactured, you figure?
