Trying to get a video of my cat to go viral took me three days of weird research

I made a funny clip of my cat, Mittens, knocking over a plant in Portland. I thought posting it was enough, but then I fell down a rabbit hole about the best time to post, what hashtags to use, and even the right thumbnail color. I spent way too long reading about engagement rates and the 'first hour' rule. Has anyone else gotten stuck trying to game the system for something silly?

Totally get what you mean about the thumbnail thing, @charles_baker28. I read a whole thread about how blue works because it stands out against all the other warm colors in most videos. But then I tried it and my cat video still flopped, so I'm starting to think maybe the system is just random. All that research can make you crazy for something that should just be fun. I've decided to just post my dumb pet clips when I feel like it and let the chips fall.

Heard blue thumbnails get more clicks, honestly.

My beagle video got 50k views after I posted it on a Tuesday morning.
