Anime meetup at a bookstore in Portland had way more parents than fans

I swung by a local anime club gathering at Powell's last Saturday and half the room was moms and dads asking if Attack on Titan was okay for their 9 year old. One dad told me he only came because his kid wanted to talk about Demon Slayer and he had no clue where to start. Has anyone else seen anime nights draw in a totally different crowd than expected?
