Back in 2018 I used to watch dubbed anime on sketchy sites

Remember when you had to wait a week for fansubs to drop on some random blog? Now I just pay $12 a month for Crunchyroll and get simulcasts the same day. Crazy how much easier it is now, but I kinda miss the hunt for that one site with the decent video quality. Anyone else feel like something got lost with all the convenience?

The convenience now is just lazy, plain and simple. Back in 2018 you had to actually put in work to find good subs or dubs, and that made the shows feel more special. The hunt was part of the experience, like digging through a bargain bin at a video store and finding a gem. Crunchyroll just hands everything to you on a silver platter, so nothing feels earned anymore. You remember scrambling to grab a 360p rip of an OVA before the blog got taken down, and that was half the fun. Does anyone actually get that same thrill clicking a button on a streaming app?

I never really thought about it that way until you said it, but yeah, you're kind of right. I used to just appreciate the convenience, but now I'm remembering those late nights finding a 480p encode of some forgotten show on a random forum, and it actually did feel like a little victory. Does having everything in one place really beat that feeling?
