Can we talk about how room lighting messes with anime watch parties?
In my experience, if your TV is set up with windows behind it, glare ruins dark scenes and folks miss key details. We spent half our last discussion arguing about a plot point that was clear if you could see the screen right. Take this with a grain of salt, but adding blackout curtains made a huge difference for our group talks.

Actually, I kinda prefer some light so my eyes don't strain.

Got to balance it though. @hayden_mason's blackout blinds help, but total darkness can make your eyes tired after a while. Maybe add a small lamp in the corner.

My buddy Jake's basement setup had this brutal glare during the final fight in Jujutsu Kaisen. He got some blackout blinds and it was a total game changer.

Wait, he watched that whole fight with glare? That's like trying to read a book in a snowstorm! Blackout blinds are a must for a basement screen. I do agree with @charles_jackson68 about adding a little light though, maybe behind the TV. Staring at a bright screen in a pitch black room gives me a headache after an hour.
